Starting to do a little bit of DIY around the house

Put a light into the roofspace, so I don’t need to walk around wearing my head torch constantly… Fixed the light at the front door, with a little help from Dad… Pulled 2 network cables through to the living room, so that Amanda can watch Sky Anytime+, and we can use the other for the playstation… Have a couple of other wee projects to do too… It’s weird having your own house to do these things to!

Also trying to grow grass… We cut it around the end of March or start of April, and it went really crappy looking… It’s starting to look a little better now, but still not quite right… Had to resow a few patchy areas, and hopefully that’ll be it sorted now

I need to blog more!

Just noticed, I really need to blog more often…

Recently saw a video about the use of the internet and social media for charities and non-profits… Have a watch… http://www.reasondigital.com/getinspired/

In my church (Newtownabbey Methodist Mission), we would be interested in setting up some form of online donations, probably through Paypal. Don’t know if there would be a better system to use – any tips are welcome… I don’t see how having a huge ‘DONATE’ button at the side of the website, with a few different options, e.g. monthly donations, one off donations, could be a bad thing… Does anyone have reservations about things like this?

I think the potentials are huge – for very little outlay, we could make quite a lot of money. I think it’s important to work on the website though, we don’t ‘sell’ ourselves enough on the internet, and I think this is one place we lose out on…

Well, its been a pretty busy couple of months… Wedding is fast approaching, we got a house sorted, and work is starting to become ‘normal’.

We spend a lot of time troubleshooting issues, doing training sessions in stores… Stuff like that! It’s great actually, quite diverse, and never a boring moment!

Henderson’s are good to work for too, we get some quite good benefits, especially compared to those in stores…

And then about 2 weeks ago we actually got a house sorted. It’s in Carrick, so handy for both Amanda and I. Still, quite scary, and we now feel terribly grown up.. Hopefully the rest will move on smoothly, and we won’t have any problems

I dont really know what else to write tonight…

One Week Over!

Well, the first week of work really did fly in! Out in stores a fair bit again this week, but I’m starting to learn how to do a few things, so I’m able to help out – which is nice – I like to feel like I’m doing stuff, rather than sitting learning stuff.

Only thing that’s killing me is the 9-5s, long day when you aren’t used to it, although I would say I’ll get used to that fairly quickly!

I better go – it’s bed time.

Well, first day over and it was good. Spent the day correcting stock for a store that accidentally wiped all their stock levels. Spending time in stores tomorrow which will be cool too. Pretty awesome.

Need to go to bed now, tired!

Last Two Shifts

New Job

Well, we arrived back down from the caravan on Friday morning so that I could go to a job interview. Funnily enough (from the title of this post) that interview must have went well, as I now have a new job. I start on Monday 20th, and I’m counting myself lucky that I basically walked into a job straight out of uni…

I’ll be working with the Automated Stock Replenishment system which we are moving to, it all sounds pretty cool and interesting!

The rest of the time at the caravan was alright – we went to Donegal/Inishowen on Wednesday which was cool – I haven’t been over there in years, but it’s pretty awesome, with some stunning views. I have a few pictures, but it was raining and I appear to have gotten rain on my lens a few times, so the pictures didn’t turn out that well lol.

So, now that I have a week free before I start ‘working’, I should really spend some time tidying my bedroom and stuff, I guess that would be a good idea.

Had a brake light blow on the car on Saturday, was quite good actually, the car has a bulb warning LED to let you know when there’s a bulb out, and the car can actually tell you what set of lights are affected – handy – and saves having to fully check the car every time you get into it lol. Unfortunately it wasn’t so easy to try and replace the bulb – requiring a socket set, screwdrivers, and some brute force, to even get near the cluster… But I guess you don’t need to do that very often, and I’ll know where to start next time…
