Well, I’m up at Benone for a few days with Amanda, sort of an end of uni, start of work break. Missing broadband Internet, although we’re not far from Coleraine (& Starbucks) so it’s not too bad.

So far it has rained pretty constantly, hoping it dries up a bit, especially so we can get out for a few wee walks around the place without having to wear waterproofs…

Going to head up to Binevenagh for a bit of a nosey, haven’t been up in years… Driving up will be so much easier than walking though lol.

Will maybe get some pics and upload them to website at the end of our hol.

It’s pretty darn windy out there today. Cloughfern weather at http://sproule.co.uk/weather has live weather information. Interesting to see that they have recorded the highest gust in the history of the station, 91.3km/hr. That’s rather quick lol.

I’ve heard tell of a few places being without power too, Portrush town centre being closed, and a few other things… Maybe it is the end of the world – your man might have been out by a day or two!

Anyway back to revision.

Well, it’s a little scary, two exams left to go, and that’s uni finished with… Wish I did better than I have, but that’s just the way the cookie crumbles!

The time has come to look for a ‘real’ job, hopefully something good will pop up, would love to be able to use the degree that I have almost achieved – I guess that’s my real aim. Other than that, I’d love a full time job that’ll pay the bills, to use a cliche.

Anyway, haven’t got a lot to say right now, I guess I’m not in a very good procrastinating mood just yet. I’m sure when that time comes, I’ll be able to think of plenty more stuff to write about!

Will blog more often, promise!

We went to Frankie and Benny’s tonight in Victoria Square in Belfast.  It was absolutely amazing, and I don’t know why it’s taken so long for us to go!

We picked some stuff from the £9.95 for two courses menu, I had a pepperoni pizza, and Amanda had a New Yorker Burger.  Both were great value for money.  Drinks were reasonably priced too, with two (decently sized) cokes and the two meals coming to just under £25 in total.

The member of staff was very attentive and saw to all our needs, and even thought the restaurant was busy he didn’t seem to be rushing us, which is always a positive thing in a restaurant.

The selection on the special offer menu was very reasonable, and outside of the offer there was an amazing selection of burgers, pizzas, pastas and calzones, along with a host of other stuff.

We’ll definitely be going back again, hopefully in the ‘not too distant’ future.

Does anyone still use IRC? I’ve set up a basic server at fs1.home.mi0gjn.co.uk, why not pop in and have a quick chat? Channel #mi0gjn.co.uk

Well had my first exam on Monday. It wasn’t too bad, I don’t think, although as they say, “The proof of the pudding is in the eating.”

The next one is on Saturday morning at half 9 (yay – not), and it’s on Quantum Mechanics and Relativity.  It should be OK, the assignments for QM went a lot better than I thought they would, so I’ll hopefully be the same in the exam.

The problem this year is that two of the modules had new lecturers last year, so there’s only really one year of past papers.  I know you aren’t meant to revise using the past papers, but it’s nice to have a rough idea of the layout of the exam, which you can’t get if there is only one past paper in existence.

Anyway back to revision…

Interesting post title eh…

Got new tyres on Tuesday afternoon.  It’s the first time in a few years that I’ve chosen not to go with a ‘premium’ or well known brand of tyre.  I only have the car until around July, as the finance ends then, so I didn’t feel a need to spend a lot on tyres, especially when you consider that this brand ‘Sunny’ cost £55 a tyre…  I got Pirelli’s during the summer and they were an absolutely horrid price, about £170 for the two, which considering the car is only a Ford Ka, is a little bit crazy.

I also normally go to ATS Euromaster, but decided not to this time, for no reason other than wanting to try somewhere different, so I went to Lindsay Ford in Mallusk who have a small “Rapidfit” franchise type thing going.  I would go back again, and would even go as far as to say I would recommend them.  They fit to any brand (not limited to Ford), and they have a price match with Kwik Fit.  The only downsides were:

  • Really slow – took them two hours to fit two tyres, however the last time I went to ATS it took them about 4 days to source tyres, and I ended up with Pirellis, when I actually went in wanting Continentals, and had settled with Dunlops, arriving at the depot to be told “Oh we just got Pirellis instead.”
  • You have to book in advance, be it the day before or whatever,
  • Mallusk being Mallusk, there isn’t a terrible lot to do while you wait, but then again this seems to be a trend with tyre places, ATS on the Boucher Road, Magowan on the outskirts of Carrickfergus, or in Mallusk.

I don’t know what they’re like for punctures and stuff, don’t know if they can repair them or not.

So far the tyres seem to be fine, they (so far) have been giving a reasonable amount of grip, although I can notice the road noise more, which isn’t a big deal considering it’s a diesel and the engine makes a lot of noise.  But I’ll keep you all updated here on the lives of the tyres…

Haven’t blogged in a long long time, but… Merry Christmas everyone. I hope Santa was good to everybody, and hope you all got what you wanted.

Santa was terribly good to me – I got converse, new shoes, clothes, PJs, some sweeties, money, a new coat, camera bag, and some other smaller things, so, all in all, a great collection of stuff!

Anyway, hope everyone enjoys their Christmas Dinner.

Well, sitting in the car waiting for Amanda and her mum to get back home from work in Belfast.

Weird, Tinie Tempah was on Cool FM lol.

There’s a big shower of rain coming over Carrick right now, looks like it might be rather heavy.

The wee hamster is looking better. He’s still not himself, but he’s not doing badly, and is certainly looking a little brighter than he was before! He’s got a few more days of antibiotics to take, then I hope he’ll be all better.
